RentBook — Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how RentBook (the "App", package id com.zentryx.rentbook), developed and published by Zentryx ("we", "us", "our"), handles your information on Android and iOS. It applies only to RentBook; our other products and website are covered by the Zentryx general Privacy Policy.

1. Summary

RentBook stores everything — your properties, tenants, ledgers, payments, and any documents or photos you attach — locally on your device. There is no account and no Zentryx server, so your tenants’ details never leave your phone except when you choose to share a receipt. On the free tier the app may show ads via Google AdMob.

2. Information the App handles

• Tenant & property records you create (on-device only): Properties, units, and tenant profiles (including name, phone number, and optional CNIC/ID number), tenancy terms, charges, payments, and any bill photos or documents you attach. Stored locally in an on-device database (SQLite) and shared only when you explicitly send a receipt or export a backup file.
• Advertising identifier (by AdMob, free tier only): On the free tier a banner ad may appear on the dashboard via Google AdMob, which may read your device advertising ID (AAID). Zentryx does not receive or store this identifier, and upgrading to Pro removes ads.

2.1 What we do not collect

• No account or sign-up — we collect no identity data on a server.
• Your tenant records are never uploaded to Zentryx; there is no cloud backend.
• No analytics, tracking, or crash-reporting SDKs are embedded.
• No contacts, SMS, call logs, or location are accessed.
• We do not sell personal data.

3. Permissions the App requests — and why

RentBook requests only the permissions needed for the features you use. You can revoke any permission at any time in your device settings; the related feature simply stops working.

• Photos / media (optional) — Only when you attach a bill photo or tenant document, or pick a logo/signature for receipts — chosen through your device’s photo picker. Images are stored locally.
• Notifications — Rent-collection and due-date reminders you schedule.
• Exact alarms — So collection reminders fire on the right day even when the device is idle.
• Biometric / fingerprint (optional) — To lock the app if you enable app lock. Biometrics never leave the secure hardware.
• Internet — Used to open WhatsApp share links and, on the free tier, to load AdMob banner ads. Your ledger data is not transmitted.

4. Third-party services

The App relies on the following third-party services:

• Google AdMob — Displays banner/interstitial ads. May access the device advertising identifier (AAID) to serve and frequency-cap ads. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in Android settings. Privacy policy.
• Google Play services — App distribution, updates, and aggregate crash/ANR reports provided by the Google Play Store. Privacy policy.

5. Where your data is stored

All data is stored locally on your device (SQLite + MMKV), including document and photo attachments. Backups are plain JSON files saved only where you choose to put them. Zentryx operates no backend for this app.

6. Data retention & deletion

Delete individual records inside the app, overwrite everything by restoring a backup, or uninstall the app to remove all locally stored data. Backups or receipts you exported elsewhere stay under your control. To opt out of personalised ads, reset or delete your advertising ID in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.

7. Security

We follow privacy-by-design principles: data minimisation, on-device processing wherever possible, encryption in transit (TLS 1.2+) for any network feature, and regular dependency patching. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but the most effective safeguard in RentBook is structural — we simply do not collect what we do not need.

8. Children's privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data through the App, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the App evolves. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
