Foliox — Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Foliox (the "App", package id com.foliox.app), developed and published by Zentryx ("we", "us", "our"), handles your information on Android and iOS. It applies only to Foliox; our other products and website are covered by the Zentryx general Privacy Policy.

1. Summary

Foliox works on your files locally: viewing, scanning, OCR, and image-to-PDF conversion all happen on-device. Two features are optional and clearly user-initiated — Google Drive sync (your files go to your own Drive) and cloud conversion (a file is sent to CloudConvert only when you request a conversion that cannot run on-device).

2. Information the App handles

• Documents & file metadata (on-device): Files you open or scan, bookmarks, and the local search index. Stored on your device only.
• Google account (optional): If you enable Drive sync, the app authenticates with your Google account via OAuth and stores files in your own Google Drive. Zentryx never receives your password or Drive contents.
• Files you send for cloud conversion (optional): Only when you explicitly request a conversion that cannot run on-device, the selected file is transmitted to CloudConvert, converted, returned, and handled per CloudConvert’s retention policy.

2.1 What we do not collect

• No analytics, ads, or tracking SDKs are embedded.
• OCR runs fully on-device — document text is not sent to Google.
• We do not sell personal data.

3. Permissions the App requests — and why

Foliox requests only the permissions needed for the features you use. You can revoke any permission at any time in your device settings; the related feature simply stops working.

• Camera (optional) — Only when you scan a document. Frames are processed on-device.
• Files / storage access — To open, manage, and save the documents you choose to work with.
• Internet — Used only for optional Google Drive sync and optional cloud conversions you initiate.

4. Third-party services

The App relies on the following third-party services:

• Google Drive (optional) — Syncs your documents to your own Google Drive when you enable it. Privacy policy.
• CloudConvert (optional) — Converts file formats that cannot be converted on-device, only when you request it. Privacy policy.
• Google ML Kit (on-device) — Text recognition (OCR) runs fully on-device. Privacy policy.
• Google Play services — App distribution, updates, and aggregate crash/ANR reports provided by the Google Play Store. Privacy policy.

5. Where your data is stored

Documents and the search index live on your device. Files synced to Drive live in your own Google account, under your control.

6. Data retention & deletion

Delete files inside the app or uninstall it to remove local data. Files in your Google Drive can be removed from your Drive directly. To revoke Foliox’s Drive access, visit your Google account’s security settings.

7. Security

We follow privacy-by-design principles: data minimisation, on-device processing wherever possible, encryption in transit (TLS 1.2+) for any network feature, and regular dependency patching. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but the most effective safeguard in Foliox is structural — we simply do not collect what we do not need.

8. Children's privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data through the App, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the App evolves. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
