Deen Companion — Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Deen Companion (the "App", package id com.zentryx.deencompanion), developed and published by Zentryx ("we", "us", "our"), handles your information on Android and iOS. It applies only to Deen Companion; our other products and website are covered by the Zentryx general Privacy Policy.

1. Summary

Deen Companion is an offline-first app. Your location is used only on your device to calculate prayer times and Qibla direction — it is never transmitted to us or anyone else. Tasbeeh counts, fasting records, and preferences are stored locally on your phone.

2. Information the App handles

• Approximate / precise location (on-device only): Used in real time to compute prayer times and Qibla direction. Processed entirely on your device and never sent to any server.
• Worship & preference data (on-device only): Tasbeeh counts, fasting tracker entries, calculation method, language, and notification preferences — stored locally on your device.

2.1 What we do not collect

• No account, name, email, or phone number is required or collected.
• No analytics or tracking SDKs are embedded in the app.
• No contacts, photos, files, SMS, or call logs are accessed.
• No data is sold, shared, or transmitted to third parties.

3. Permissions the App requests — and why

Deen Companion requests only the permissions needed for the features you use. You can revoke any permission at any time in your device settings; the related feature simply stops working.

• Location (while in use) — To calculate accurate prayer times and Qibla direction for your position. Processed on-device only.
• Notifications — To deliver scheduled prayer-time alerts you configure.
• Exact alarms — So prayer notifications fire at the precise minute, even when the device is idle.
• Compass / motion sensors — Powers the Qibla compass. Sensor readings are used in real time and never stored or transmitted.

4. Third-party services

The App relies on the following third-party services:

• Google Play services — App distribution, updates, and aggregate crash/ANR reports provided by the Google Play Store. Privacy policy.

5. Where your data is stored

All app data lives in local on-device storage. Nothing is uploaded to Zentryx or any third-party server.

6. Data retention & deletion

Clear data from within the app settings, or uninstall the app — uninstalling removes all locally stored data immediately. There is no server-side copy to delete.

7. Security

We follow privacy-by-design principles: data minimisation, on-device processing wherever possible, encryption in transit (TLS 1.2+) for any network feature, and regular dependency patching. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but the most effective safeguard in Deen Companion is structural — we simply do not collect what we do not need.

8. Children's privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data through the App, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the App evolves. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
